SAN ANGELO, TX — Authorities are on the lookout for a hit-and-run driver who left behind a trail of destruction in the parking lot of Shannon Women's and Children's Clinic located at 201 E. Harris Ave. The incident, which involved a vehicle believed to be either a full-sized SUV or pickup truck equipped with a grill guard, occurred during the busy morning hours between 7:40 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023.
Three parked vehicles sustained significant damage in the calamity, which was only discovered when the vehicle owners returned to the lot from their appointments at the clinic. Among the affected vehicles was a white Ford Explorer that had been parked at an end cap spot. The Explorer, after being hit, was displaced significantly, landing askew in the parking space. This forceful collision caused the Explorer to collide with a maroon Honda Clarity parked next to it, which in turn was shoved into an adjacent Cadillac Escalade. The extent of the damage indicates that the repair costs for all three vehicles will likely run into the thousands of dollars each.
Adding a twist to the case, the owner of the battered Explorer is the spouse of retired San Angelo Police Department Traffic Investigator Steven Quade. Drawing upon years of experience, Quade has surmised that the fleeing vehicle was indeed a large pickup or SUV, the size and equipment of which would align with the pattern and magnitude of the wreckage. Given the severity of the impact, there's a possibility that bystanders may have heard or even witnessed the event.
The San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) is appealing to the community for any leads. They encourage anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run to reach out to the SAPD's non-emergency dispatch line at (325) 657-4315.
