UPDATE: Odessa Infant Dies After Serious Car Crash

ODESSA— The toddler seriously injured in the Odessa crash earlier this week has died.

Yesterday, San Angelo LIVE! reported on a drunken crash that occurred in Odessa that involved Daisy Cordero, 36, who was driving a Lexus and a Chevy Cruze that had two children in the backseat.

According to witnesses, Cordero was driving north on Grandview Street in Odessa when it rear-ended a Chevy Cruze. The two children in the Chevy were injured. A one-month-old toddler was so seriously injured she had to be life-flighted to a hospital in Lubbock while a one-year-old boy and the driver were taken to an Odessa hospital for treatment.

Now, according to a Facebook post, the girl, who was six weeks old, has died as a result of her injuries.

Cordero attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly detained and arrested. She was eventually transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center and charged with intoxication assault causing serious bodily injuries, bribery, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and an accident involving serious bodily injury.

She's just another lowlife P.O.S. that will probably get probation and a fine.

There exists no path to easily forgiving this.

As an aside, and I know this has no relationship to the current subject, I consider the indictment of Daniel Penny in the death of Jordon Neely to be just plain wrong.  Penny did not intend to kill Neely and was just trying to subdue him before he did harm to the other folks on that subway car.  Tragic, yes.  A crime?  No.
