Odessa Woman Charged with Intoxicated Assault for Injuring Children in Crash

 

ODESSA— An Odessa woman has been charged with intoxication assault causing injury and several other crimes after a serious crash Monday.

Earlier this week, on June 12,2023, Odessa Police responded to the intersection of Maple Avenue and Grandview Street around 11:15 p.m. regarding a car crash. On scene, officers learned that one of the drivers, 36-year-old Daisy Cordero, was fleeing the scene on foot.

Officers did locate and detained Cordero.

Witnesses told officers that Cordero’s Lexus RX350 was going north on Grandview and rear-ended a Chevy Cruze that was stopped at a red light. Two children were injured in the crash and one of those children suffered injuries so serious she had to be airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock. A one-year-old boy and Cordero were taken to an area hospital.

Cordero was eventually arrested and charged with intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury, accident involving serious injury, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and bribery. She was transported to Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
