Video: Aftermath of Brutal Wind Driven Fires & Damage

SAN ANGELO – West Texas residents were cleaning up damage left after that raging wind storm Thursday downed trees and power lines and contributed to at least two house fires in the San Angelo area.

Sustained wind speeds are reported to have been 39 mph in San Angelo with gusts to 59 mph but they actual wind speeds could have been much higher.  There were reports of widespread tree limb damage and downed power lines across the city Thursday afternoon.  Two local broadcast tv stations lost power according to reports.

At least two house fires were reported.  The first was around 5 p.m. at the corner of N. Chadbourne and 37th St.  The brick and wooden structure was reported fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.  They battled the fire and the shifting high winds as the storm system blew through.
