2 Big Rigs Destroyed in Fiery Crash Leaving One Dead & One Seriously Injured

SNYDER, TX – One man was killed and another was seriously injured Thursday morning following a crash involving two Freightliners.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Sep. 23 at around 6:09 a.m., troopers with the DPS were dispatched to U.S. Hwy 84 for the report of a major crash.

When they arrived the troopers discovered a 2006 Freightliner and a 2016 Freightliner that had crashed on the side of the road fully engulfed in flames

The driver of the 2006 Semi, Vladimir Cruz Soris, 48, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Miller Family Funeral Home in Snyder. The passenger, Joshua Lewallen, male, 29, of Abilene, was transported to UMC in Lubbock. There is no information on his injuries.

Neither the driver nor the passenger in the 2016 Semi was injured in the crash.

Troopers determined that the 2006 Semi was traveling northwest on US-84 while the 2016 Semi was parked on the shoulder with a flat tire.  As the 2006 Semi approached the parked vehicle it crossed the east fog line and struck the rear of the 2016 Semi.

The 2006 Semi went into a side skid and caught fire as it entered the East barrow ditch.
