ANDREWS, TX -- New details have been released in the fatal hit-and-run that resulted in the death of 38-year-old Veronica Carrillo in Andrews.
“She was always happy, she was a person that would make a home brighten with her jokes and she was always making us laugh,” said Alicia Carrillo, the victim's mother.
According to Carrillo, her daughter had been dating 38-year-old Humberto Polanco for two years.
“He was always so jealous of her. She had told me already, Mama I don’t want to go back with him he’s so controlling,” said Carrillo.
Polanco has been charged with murder after police say he ran over Veronica on purpose.
According to Carrillo, Polanco picked up the victim from her house.
The victim's mother told police the couple got into an argument before she was killed, but she doesn't know what could have led to that level of violence.
"He was always so jealous of her. She had told me already, Mama I don’t want to go back with him he’s so controlling,” said Carrillo.
Carrillo is survived by three teenage daughters and two grandchildren. A GoFundMe has been created to help her family with funeral costs.
Polanco is currently being held at the Andrews County Jail.
