Tundra Driver Hits Classmate from Central High, Pedestrian Rushed to Shannon

A San Angelo Central student was rushed to Shannon Medical Center after he failed to beat a Toyota Tundra across Pecos St. at Cottonwood during the lunch hour today.

According to San Angelo police, both the pedestrian and the 17- or 18-year-old driver of a white Toyota Tundra were students at the high school. The pedestrian, a 16-year-old male, was headed from campus and was crossing Pecos from Cottonwood, running southbound, when he was struck by his classmate's Tundra.

The Tundra hit the pedestrian with the left passenger side mirror. The mirror completely tore off.

Police said there are no citations; however, they reserve the option, as the incident is still under investigation. Police do not know the condition of the pedestrian. He was tied down in a gurney and rushed off in an ambulance.
