The Alpine Police Department warned drivers Saturday afternoon to avoid U.S. 90 west of Alpine due to a crash. The highway is the primary route from Alpine to Marfa. APD suggested using Highway 118 north to circumvent the crash site.
Travis Bubenik, morning host and reporter with Marfa Public Radio, reported that according to the Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson, one man, believed to be the driver of the semi–truck, died in the crash. His listeners sent him a video and an image that he posted to his Twitter account.

Marfa Public Radio reported that by 4 p.m. the Marfa Volunteer Fire Department was evaluating the site for cleanup of hazardous material as a result of the propane spill.

Alpine Police had not reported the highway open as of 8 pm. Saturday night.
The crash occurred about 10 miles west of Alpine on U.S. 90 early Saturday afternoon.
