Faulty Brakes Lead to Crash and Jail Time for One Driver

At about 8:00 pm tonight, the San Angelo Police Department responded to a crash on Martin Luther King Drive and 7th Street. After the crash, one driver ended up in jail due to outstanding warrants against him.

The officer at the scene said the crash involved two Chevrolet vehicles: a Chevy Equinox and a black Chevy pickup. The driver of the pickup caused the crash.

"The accident was caused more or less by a malfunction in the truck's brake system," said the officer. "This caused the wheels to lock up. He left at least 180-200 feet of skid marks before he actually impacted the other vehicle."

There were no major injuries, but during the investigation, police learned the driver of the Chevy pickup had many outstanding warrants. Thus, instead of receiving a citation, police transported the man to the Tom Green County Jail.
