San Angelo Man Killed in Collision with Deer North of San Angelo

 

A 21-year-old San Angelo man was killed when the vehicle in which he was a passenger overturned after striking a deer.

According to the Texas DPS, two 20-somethings were traveling northbound on U.S. 277 in a passenger sedan at 6:37 a.m. this morning. Approximately 11 miles north of Bronte, their 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt struck a deer. DPS reported that after hitting the deer, the driver took faulty evasive action, causing the Cobalt to run off the right side of the roadway and rolling over.

Killed in the crash was passenger Albertu Alexander Lopez Aguilar, 21, of San Angelo. The driver, Eric Ledesma-Ponce, 25, also of San Angelo, was transported to Shannon Medical Center with injuries that were not incapacitating, DPS reported.

The road was dry and the skies clear. The speed limit is 75 mph.

The Coke County Sheriff’s Department assisted the DPS in the crash investigation.
