A black Dodge Ram 3500 plowed into a parked late model Jeep Laredo on Vista del Arroyo just after 9 p.m. Monday.
The mass of the large pickup when combined with its velocity turned the Jeep completely around on impact. Police estimate that the truck was travelling at a speed of as much as 50 mph in the 35 mph zone.
Inside the Dodge were two occupants in addition to the driver. All were related, said police. Police said that probably the driver of the Ram was engaged in conversation with the passengers and not paying attention to where he was going. There were no skid marks on the road until just prior to where the Jeep was parked.
The driver and both passengers—one of who had a laceration to his head—refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police cited the Ram driver for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic and for driving with an invalid license.
Police also noted that they detected the smell of alcohol but made a judgment that the Ram driver was not intoxicated and would likely pass a sobriety test.

That is actually a 20 mph street and only about 100 ft from unidad park. Lots of people walk to that park all the time and that dodge is very lucky no one got killed.

PermalinkHow is this driver not given a sobriety test on the Labor Day night when the smell of alcohol is confirmed? How is this happening when it's "no refusal" week all around the state?

PermalinkNo drivers license , the smell of alcohol, speeding thru a residential area and no sobriety test was given. Cops must know who Daddy is. Probably won't hear shit about this again. Glad nobody else was hurt , but this is not going to teach this this idiot anything, just that he or she can do some more stupid shit and pretty much get away with it. Funny how they didn't mention name of the driver or any officers involved. I'm just saying...

PermalinkLadies, Gentlemen:
I have been thinking about this and I think we are prematurely jumping into conclusions. What if they were part of a special team on a critical assignment for national security? Revealing their names would surely jeopardize their mission. To me, all bets are off when it concerns our nation's security. Also, I cannot imagine, in a republic like ours, that certain people are treated more favorably than others, especially in matters of justice. Come on people, have some faith! So, yeah.
