Two Separate Car Accidents Claim Lives

 

Just South of Stamford was a fatal car accident on U.S. 277. Two vehicles were involved in the Jones County crash, Judge Cheryl Guernsey pronounced Allen Theodore Heyle dead at the scene. Heyle was a 94-year-old Stamford resident. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of accident. His body was taken to Abilene Professional Services. His passenger, Wanda Heyle, was taken to Hendrick Medical Center for treatment.

The investigating officer, Trooper Gilbert Valdez (DPS Anson), stated that the road conditions were clear and dry. The 2014 Honda Accord driven by Heyle was stopped at the stop sign at FM 2702 and US 277 facing west. Heyle pulled out in front of a 2008 Nissan Sentra driven by Syvana Bruce, 21, of Tulsa, OK. She was carrying 3 passengers at the time of the accident. All but one was wearing a setbelt. All occupants of the Nissan were transported to Hendricks Medical Center.

Another fatal accident occured in Haskell County killing one in a single vehicle accident. Trooper Chad Overton, DPS Woodson, explains the road conditions were clear and dry with a speed limit of 55 mph. The crash took place one mile South of Haskell on U.S. 277. The driver of a 2001 Chevrolet pickup was pronounced dead by Judge David Davis at the scene. The body of Manuel Ibarra, 70, was taken to Holden-McCauley Funeral Home in Haskell. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt when he drove off the roadway while entering a curve. The driver overcorrected sending the vehicle into a side skid.  The vehicle struck a road sign on the driver side while skidding into the west barrow ditch. The driver was ejected as the vehicle rolled over.
