Flashing Stop Sign Installed on March Road Following Fatal Crash

GRAPE CREEK, TX — A new solar-powered flashing LED stop sign and rumble strips were installed on March Road at its intersection with U.S. Highway 87 North, a response to a recent fatal crash, the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department announced.

The safety upgrades were prompted after a vehicle ran the stop sign at the intersection in the early hours of October 31, resulting in a three-vehicle collision that claimed the lives of a local man and child.

The GCVFD coordinated with the Texas Department of Transportation and Tom Green County Commissioner’s Office to secure the new equipment aimed at increasing visibility and driver awareness at the crossing.

“This incident has caused sadness for many in our community, and we hope this stop sign project will help heal those affected and raise community awareness on safe driving practices,” GCVFD stated.
