SAN ANGELO, TX — The November 5 General Election is upon us. Here, we have compiled everything you need to know about election day and who is running in various races.
First, registered voters must bring an identification card to the polling location such as a driver's license or voter registration card. You can vote at any polling location in the county, but where your residence is located on the county precinct map determines what ballot you will receive. Don't worry, there are only four county precincts, so this should be fairly simple. You can find your precinct here.
Second, do your research. Here are the contested races you'll need to research before voting, in ballot order. The candidates for local elections will only have contests for the precinct you reside. For example, if you live in Water Valley, you will not see Christoval ISD school board choices and vis versa. Uncontested races are not listed:

San Angelo ISD Proposition A
Ratifies the tax rate at 0.812310 per $100 of property valuation that will generate $2,049,912 in more revenue plus (not stated on the ballot) an additional $4 million more from the state.

Power tip: To avoid long lines, it is easier to drive across town or the county to a polling location that may not be busy. From experience watching these polling locations over a decade, the TxDOT and Angelo Bible Church locations are very busy. The polling locations on the numbered streets and at the South Side Recreation Center are less busy. I will go out on a limb and suggest that the short drive to Veribest will reward you with the shortest lines.
The polling locations are open 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. CST Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. we are holding a free election watch party the Arc Light Bar & Grill inside the Clarion Hotel, 441 Rio Concho Dr.
The live stream crew from San Angelo LIVE! will be broadcasting live from the Arc Light on election night. In between live stream broadcasts, the 20+ TVs and the huge video wall will feature the major networks' coverage of the Nov. 5 election.
Yantis Green and Joe Hyde will host and you are invited. Admission is free.
At the Arc Light, enjoy drink and food specials all night long. Comfortable seating and the best views of the election returns as they unfold will be displayed in realtime on the huge video wall and flatscreens. Sound will be on the primary video wall so you will be able to listen to the returns as well.

Drew Darby, San Angelo ISD board president Dr. Taylor Kingman, Democratic Party Chairman Jon Mark Hogg, Sheriff Nick Hanna, City Councilman Tom Thompson, and Congressman August Pfluger. San Angelo LIVE! will go live on Facebook, YouTube and X with each update from the Tom Green County Elections Office.
