Tom Green County Unemployment Rate Drops in September

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County’s unemployment rate decreased from August to September, according to the latest report from the Texas Workforce Commission.

The county’s jobless rate fell from 3.8% in August to 3.5% in September. The number of unemployed residents dropped from 2,212 in August to 2,028 in September as the local labor market showed signs of improvement.

Employment in Tom Green County rose slightly from 55,494 in August to 55,855 in September, while the civilian labor force grew from 57,706 to 57,883 during the same period.

In September 2023, the county’s unemployment rate was also 3.5%, but with a smaller labor force and employment count, reflecting modest year-over-year growth in local job opportunities.

The state's adjusted unemployment rate remained at 4.1 percent from August to September.
