Tom Green County Unemployment Rate Drops in July

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - Tom Green County reported a decline in its unemployment rate for July 2024, according to the Texas Workforce Commission, marking a positive shift after a slight rise the previous month.

The county’s unemployment rate decreased to 3.7 percent in July, down from 3.9 percent in June. The number of unemployed residents fell from 2,269 in June to 2,163 in July. This improvement comes as employment in the county increased from 55,412 to 55,532 over the same period.

In July 2023, Tom Green County’s unemployment rate stood at 4.1 percent, with 2,340 people out of work. The total civilian labor force also grew slightly from 57,681 in June 2024 to 57,695 in July 2024.

The state’s adjusted unemployment rate rose from 4 percent in June to 4.1 percent last month.
