SAN ANGELO, TX – Residents on the south side of San Angelo will be getting a new 50's style dining experience in the coming month. The original Grill-A-Burger on the north side of San Angelo, at 1205 N Chadbourne St., has finalized plans to add a second location on the south side of San Angelo.
According to the owner and operator of Grill-A-Burger, Katherine Martinez, one of San Angelo's favorite burger joints will be opening a second location at 2833 Southwest Blvd. steps away from Timeclock Plus.
This "Old Soul" family restaurant has decided to open the new location for one simple reason, "the need for a restaurant in that shopping center" claimed Martinez.
With businesses like Timeclock Plus and Performant, more than 1,000 employees work in the center which includes Hobby Lobby and Tractor Supply. That prompted Martinez to move forward with her plan and open the second Grill-A-Burger.
The task was not easy as the previous tenants in the the shop, Nana's Bakery, did not have the specific kitchen equipment used for a full restaurant. That forced Martinez to completely renovate everything inside including new gas and electrical lines throughout the building.
The new restaurant plans on keeping the same 1950s style theme except the new place will be more of a cafe theme. Martinez says they serve more than hamburgers, such as burritos, sandwiches, and sweet treats, in order to get customers in and out quickly. They will also offer a coffee bar for quick on-the-go coffee. Still, what Martinez said will keep bringing clientele back again and again will be their famous home style burgers. Veterans, military, first responders, and student discounts are offered discounts.
One theme that will continue in the new restaurant is their "great food with great service" attitude.
“To me it’s all about the service, the food, and whenever people walk in (making sure) they feel good about it and leave feeling good,” said Martinez. “If they’re not having a good day, our goal is that they’re happy, smiling and satisfied when they leave.”
Grill-A-Burger's second location for its 50's style cafe is planned to be open in Mid-February.

The original Grill-A-Burger, founded in November 2016, is located on 1205 N Chadbourne St. in the former Charcoal House location. They are opened from 11-9 daily.
