Drive-By Shooting Victim Sent to Hospital

A man sitting outside his residence in the 700 block of Shiloh has been transported to the hospital this evening after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg, San Angelo Police Sergeant Chris Cimino confirmed.

The man, estimated to be in 20s, was seated outside when a vehicle drove by and fired a gun out of the car, hitting the victim in the leg. Cimino said the police believe the shooter got off only one round before driving away, and they are currently combing the area for bullet fragments.

Detectives are with the victim in the hospital at the moment, and the investigation is anticipated to continue for a while at the residence.

The victim's injuries are non-life threatening.
