Investigation Ongoing in Brandon Lawson Case

The Texas DPS, Texas Rangers and the Coke County Sheriff are reinvigorating the search for Brandon Lawson, according to a press release.

It reads:

"At approximately 12:50 a.m. on August 9, 2013, the Coke County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from an individual believed to be Brandon Mason Lawson. The caller indicated he was on U.S. 277 between Bronte and Abilene. The Coke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area north of Bronte and was unable to locate the caller. A short time later, Lawson’s abandoned vehicle was found parked partially in the roadway approximately four miles south of Bronte on U.S. 277, but Lawson was not located.

"Lawson is a fugitive with outstanding felony warrants from Johnson County. He has not been in touch with his common-law wife or family. The Coke County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation into Lawson’s disappearance.

"In all, seven separate searches have been conducted by various law enforcement agencies between August 2013 and February 2014 as part of this investigation, including ground and aerial searches. These searches include the area of the abandoned vehicle, as well as all areas associated with cell phone activity, and one of the searches covered approximately 2,000 acres.

"The investigation into the disappearance of Brandon Lawson is ongoing, and anyone with information pertaining to the disappearance of Lawson is encouraged to contact the Coke County Sheriff’s Office (325-453-2717) or the Texas Rangers (325-223-6840).

This is a very tragic story, that I feel was not taken seriously nor given justice in this article or press release. This man is a father of 4 and deserves to be treated with the same respect as any other missing persons. I am just a fellow Texan but I have been following Brandon's Wife's FB page and this article depicts him as a fugitive on the run!! A fugitive on the run would NOT call 911, I've heard the call and the poor man is asking for help over and over. It's heartbreaking. I'm even astonished at the fact that this is the first press release, for that I will be greatful tho. This family needs our help.

Neither myself or Chelsea have public opinion of this case. But the quoted text is from a Texas Department of Public Safety press release, as noted above.

The release was emailed to us. There are layers of PIOs with the state, and unless it's coming from ATX, there usually is no website link.

I do not see the Press Release on the TXDPS website? http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/director_staff/public_information/press.htm When was the "quoted text" Chelsea reported taken from? A new press release? I don't even see a 2013 press release on the site? Please link. Thank you.

For more info: www.missingbrandonlawson.com (Includes the actual 911 call made on the early morning in which he asked for " a cop" and asked the dispatch to "please hurry." The family was never told that Brandon called 911 for help. They learned a few days later from their cell phone bill that he called 911 and then approached the Sheriff Dept to ask why they were not notified he asked for help? It is also believed that law enforcement was dispatched to Brandon's truck parked on the roadway...and that no dispatch was made regarding his pleas for help for a cop and for them to please hurry. Something is surely amiss. Whomever has information regarding the disappearance of Brandon Lawson, we implore you to please contact your local authorities as well as the Texas Dept. of Safety, MPC at 512-424-5074 – Case # M1308005

I've received several emails regarding this posting concerning the information and the source of information contained here. This is not my reporting. This is a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, as has been clearly noted in the in brief point before the article's text since it was published. I've reported on Lofton's story twice, both articles are linked in the body of this release.
