Tankersley Bonds Out of Jail after Fatal Crash

Jaime Tankersley, 31, bonded out of jail on Monday afternoon after spending almost 36 hours behind bars on an intoxication manslaughter with a motor vehicle charge.

Tankersley was arrested at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, after crashing her Ram truck into a Honda Civic driven by 20-year-old Aaron Allen. As a result of the crash, Allen died on scene, and Tankersley was charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony.

Although she was charged with intoxication, blood test results have not yet been returned, thus the level of her impairment is not yet known.

The legal definition describes intoxication as "not having the normal use of physical or mental capacities by reason of the introduction of alcohol" and/or a controlled substance, or having a blood-alcohol level of .08 or more. A blood test is conducted in every fatal crash, and one does not necessarily have to meet the .08 level in order to become physically and mentally intoxicated. 

Tankersley posted a $25k bond on Monday afternoon and has been released from the jail. If indicted and convicted, she could face 2-20 years jail time and a $10k fine.

Allen's body has been sent to Lubbock for autospy.

That piece of trash killed my friend and you're worried about HER family? Her family raised a remorseless killer and you're wishing them the best? What, exactly, is phucking wrong with you?

WOW !! another "kill someone & get out on bond" - how the hell does this work?? This makes me sick. You've got the other guy who is now out on a $10K bond for intoxication manslaughter for killing the young mom & severly injuring her toddler, fitchett that was out on a bond after a pedestrian hit & run & numerous other bonds while he committed a laundry list of felonies & now this person. If you kill someone, you should NOT be able to get out on ANY bond - just completely insane logic !!!!

I realize that your friend was killed in an ACCIDENT but your friend was not without fault, he was RACING when the accident happened. Had he not been racing then he wouldn't have been at that intersection at that second so don't lay all the blame on the person driving the truck that hit him. Hopefully you will learn from the mistakes that both of them made don't street race it is very dangerous and don't drink and drive. My heart goes out to both families involved because they both have struggles in front of them, the family who lost a child and the one that has to live with what has happened and her part in it........Very sad.

Witnesses stated that the Civic was travelling at a high rate of speed. Witnesses are also very unreliable because they embellish (see Michael Brown case.) He could have passed somebody driving 40 in a 45 while he was doing 50. That 10mph pass looks pretty quick. Then that person witnesses the crash. Their adrenaline gets going and now they're all excited. Next thing you know the guy was doing 90mph. Besides, who was he racing? Himself? He was 20. 20 year olds speed. I'm sure that you did too when you were that age. I think that Officer Kennedy chose his words rather poorly by accusing this guy of racing (or even driving fast) based on circumstantial evidence. The bottom line is that you need to rethink what you just said. This chick was freaking drunk and turned into him. If she wasn't drunk and was paying attention, she would have seen the oncoming vehicle and yielded. The result of her action is the death of a 20 year old young man. I have absolutely 0 empathy for Ms. Tankersley. It was her decision alone to start that pick up and put it on the road while she was drunk. And by you stating "Had he not been racing then he wouldn't have been at that intersection at that second" shows absolute ignorance on your part. If a person wasn't at home when a tornado came through and destroyed their house, they might be alive too. Are you going to blame that person for being at home? What if it was a teenager that was skipping school? Are you gonna say "Well it's their fault because they skipped school!" Think about it.

Matt L, you make a great case for the young man in this case. As in the Michael Brown case which you reference, witnesses created a biased perspective of what they saw. It seems you have concluded your own opinion of what really happen. Based on your logic about this unfortunate woman, whom may or may not be at complete fault, anybody who causes an accident must be "freaking drunk". However there are accidents almost daily where two sober drivers are involved in an automobile accident. You are obviously ready to see her executed without giving the woman not even an inkling of a benefit of doubt. A horrific accident, but wait for the final results of a trial and investigation before you spew out your condemnation of this woman.

For the love of God... it's a heartbreaking CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY for both families... Why does "one more person" feel the need to push their opinion ONE MORE TIME on this story? What's done is done and no matter what anyone says, there will always be two sides to this story - and unfortunately no one is going to convince the other party that either side is in the wrong or in the right. Humans are judgmental hypocrites. They're all lawyers, doctors, and criminal justice experts. Unfortunately, we're not all entitled to LEGALLY place judgement on these people so until that time comes.... give it a rest, eh?
