Family Launches Fundraiser for San Angelo Officer Injured in Dog Attack

SAN ANGELO, TX — The family of a San Angelo Animal Services officer critically injured in a dog attack on November 6, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his medical expenses as he faces a prolonged recovery process.

The campaign aims to raise funds to cover the costs of ongoing surgeries and rehabilitation.

Bias was attacked by two large dogs, reportedly pit bull mixes, while responding to a report of aggressive dogs on Cloud Street. The incident left him with severe injuries, including a mangled left arm, bite wounds to his head, shoulders, and legs, and significant blood loss. According to the GoFundMe, the man's injuries were so severe that he “almost bled to death.” He was airlifted to Lubbock, where he remains hospitalized.

As of the latest update on the fundraising page, the man has undergone multiple surgeries to reconstruct his damaged arm and will require additional procedures. A recent operation involved removing a wound vac and further cleaning and treating his left arm, a procedure that took four hours.

The family noted that he is a hardworking and dedicated public servant who “would never ask for a handout.” information stated. “He will need any extra help he can get.”

The San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to review the case to determine if criminal charges are warranted against the dogs’ owner.

The GoFundMe has an initial goal of $5,000. As of now, $50 has been raised.

Meanwhile, how about holding dog owners liable and lock owners up.

Surely not a pit bull, they are the nicest dogs, even all top notch drug dealers own 2 or 3.

We should start by educating our officers and firing our city manager. The CM squashes any ordinance violations he wants. He has even told those who enforce are to go through him first. Trump made animal cruelty a federal offense. When that was brought to the attention of the San Angelo Police Officer on our case, he informed us that local police departments were not able to enforce federal laws and we would need to reach out to the FBI to press charges.

The Feds are not going to deal with non-interstate stuff.  If I kick Muffy because she bit my daughter, don't call the FBI unless you want to be thought an idiot.
