SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo Animal Services officer who was critically injured in a dog attack on November 6 is now in stable condition, city officials confirmed.
The officer, who remains hospitalized in Lubbock, sustained multiple bite wounds, lacerations, and a broken arm. He continues to receive treatment, and there is no estimated date for his release.
The incident occurred on Cloud Street when the officer responded to a report of aggressive dogs roaming the area. Upon arrival, he encountered a pack of at least 10 dogs on the property. According to witnesses, two large dogs, described as mixed breeds with some pit bull characteristics, escaped through a gate and attacked him.
San Angelo Police and Fire Department personnel arrived quickly to administer emergency aid before the officer was flown to Lubbock for further care. The dogs involved were surrendered by their owner to Animal Services and subsequently euthanized, following local protocols for severe attacks.
The San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating the case to determine whether criminal charges may be warranted. Officials have expressed gratitude for the community’s continued support and prayers as the officer recovers.
