Another Earthquake Shakes West Texas

TOYAH, TX – A 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck Toyah, Texas, early Thursday morning, the United States Geological Survey reported.

The quake occurred around 6 a.m., with shockwaves felt as far as 70 miles southeast, reaching Fort Stockton.

Thursday’s earthquake comes one month after a 5.1 magnitude quake rattled West Texas, sending shockwaves as far as the San Angelo area. While the 3.2 magnitude quake was weaker, quakes of this magnitude can still be felt and may cause minor damage. 

West Texas has seen a series of seismic events in recent months. In July, San Angelo residents reported feeling tremors after a series of earthquakes in the region, and at least five earthquakes were recorded in West Texas near the Panhandle by the USGS.
