Police working a major motor vehicle accident at Abe and Highland have apprehended a male subject who fled from the scene of the crash.
The crash was reported at 6:03 p.m. and involved an older model Toyota pickup, a two-door Hyundai, and an SUV that failed to stop after the crash.
An eyewitness said that the dark grey SUV was trailing behind the Toyota, which was northbound on Koenigheim. The driver of the Toyota attempted to turn right onto Highland Blvd. with the SUV following closely. The SUV then rammed the rear of the Toyota , pushing it into a Hyundai ahead of it.
The Toyota driver responded with road rage, attempting to turn and peel out after the villainous SUV driver, who had continued despite causing the accident. The male Toyota driver then stopped, exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The man ran several blocks on foot, running north and east, before being caught on Chadbourne St. near the bridge. After being apprehended, the runner was brought back to the scene of the crash, where officers located a large sum of cash that they were counting on the hood of the cruiser with the subject inside.
The black SUV was found several minutes later at the Paseo, however an officer on scene stated that the vehicle had been abandoned. It has been towed and the driver is still on the loose. The vehicle will be impounded and the owner will be contacted.
San Angelo police, SAFD and a medic are on scene. The driver of the Toyota is currently the only person involved known to have injuries. The extent of those injuries is not yet known.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

He was also cited for failure to stop and leave information, striking an occupied vehicle, driving while license invalid and a wide right turn.
