SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police have arrested 19-year-old Andrea Mendoza in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early this Sunday morning.
She has been charged with Accident Involving Death, a second-degree felony. Mendoza is currently being held at the Tom Green County Jail with a bond set at $75,000.
We reported earlier that at around midnight on August 4, San Angelo Public Safety Communications received a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the 3100 block of North Chadbourne Street.
Responding officers found a 53-year-old man with severe injuries. The victim, struck by a white 2000 Mercury Sable traveling at high speed, was pronounced deceased.
The suspect vehicle was located abandoned a short distance from the scene. Mendoza was identified as the suspect and has now been arrested.

PermalinkWhen I was young I was as wild as a rutting buck. There was almost nothing I wouldn't do or try and I've done a lot of bad things. The same could be said for the people I hung out with. However, if any of us ever accidentally hurt an innocent person we would do our best to make it right. The thought of running over someone then leaving them to suffer or even die was well, unthinkable. This type of story has become very common. Who teaches these young people to behave this way... their parents?

PermalinkI have two sons that are now grown but certainly young enough to have been exposed to all the things you mentioned in school and college as well as with friends and the workplace. Either of them doing something so dark and so irresponsible would not happen. That's why I questioned the parents.

She was drunk and to scared to stop, most likely due to her parents/friends telling her better to leave the scene than be found DUI.
Law should be written that if you leave the scene then you will be charged DUI/murder no matter what.
