SNYDER, TX — A 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook Scurry County at 4:08 p.m. Saturday, a day after a county judge declared a state of disaster due to the ongoing earthquakes.
There have been more than 60 earthquakes in the county over the past week, including one Friday morning that registered a 5.1 on the Richter scale, making it the sixth-strongest earthquake ever recorded in Texas.
A 4.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded Monday night.
Saturday's earthquake was about 15 miles west of the county seat of Snyder.
Some of the earthquakes have been felt across the region, including in San Angelo, which is about 100 miles southeast of Snyder.
A 2.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded Friday evening outside the West Texas town of Pecos.
