Young Family Victimized in Hit-and-Run Crash

A father, mother and child were extracted from their Nissan Rogue on West Beauregard Avenue after a hit-an-run-motorist plowed into them and fled the scene Saturday night.

According to San Angelo police, a black or maroon Nissan pickup traveling north on North Campus Blvd. crashed into the Rogue as it was proceeding west with the right-of-way on Beauregard. The pickup fled the scene.

“We have collected evidence from the vehicle and will be searching for it,” said Officer Hasting. Hasting said the damage to the hit-and-run vehicle was likely on the front, left quarter-panel. The vehicle is missing a left headlight and part of the front grill, he said.

Airbags deployed and safety devices worked on the Rogue. The baby had to be cut out of the child seat in the back seat by EMS personnel. The family was wearing seatbelts and no one was injured. The 911 call was made at 9:40 p.m. Saturday night.

While the crash investigation was ongoing, an alleged drunk driver ran the police barricade at Campus and Beauregard. Police caught him after a short pursuit of his Jeep when he pulled over near Harris Street and Garrett Street. The Jeep driver admitted to have been drinking, according to police. He was arrested for DWI, eluding from police officers, and disregarding a police barricade.

I started reading this article and nearly panicked. We drive a grey Nissan rogue, fit this family's description, and frequently drive W Beauregard. For a moment I thought I was in the 6th Sense and wondered if this had been me and my family, but thankfully my wife called me an idiot and I snapped out of it. I really hope they catch the d-bag that did this. Thank God nobody was hurt.
