Fredericksburg Police Hunting Suspect in Fatal Robbery

FREDERICKSBURG, TX - On Tuesday, Jan. 2,  at approximately 11:47 p.m., Fredericksburg Police Officers responded to an aggravated robbery at the Kwikcheck Convenience Store located at 1001 South State Highway 16, where an individual lost his life.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound and promptly administered first aid. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the individual was later pronounced dead.

According to authorities, the assailant, described as a male suspect, entered the store and proceeded to the back area. There, he donned a white skull mask before returning to the front and discharging his firearm, fatally hitting the victim.

Following the violent act, the suspect demanded money from the on-duty clerk, who complied by retrieving cash from the register. The armed assailant exited the store, leaving the clerk physically unharmed.

An examination of store surveillance footage during the subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect initially entered the store wearing a dark-colored hooded long-sleeve shirt or lightweight jacket, a ball cap, blue jeans, and gloves while carrying a duffel bag.

The suspect later emerged from the back of the store wearing the distinctive white skull mask and brandishing a firearm. Both the entrance and exit from the store were made on foot.

In a press release update, authorities identified the victim as 48-year-old Arthur Cortez of Fredericksburg, Texas. The victim's family has been notified of the tragic incident.

As of now, the suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Fredericksburg Police are urging anyone with information about the case to contact them at (830) 997-7585 and ask to speak with a detective.

(As of now, the suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous) However, even though he was caught on camera and seen by a witness without his mask we don't need to know if he is black, white, hispanic, asian, or a martian. All we need to know is he is dangerous because we don't want anyone to appear racist, bigoted or politically incorrect.

....Agreed.  What is the point on reporting his height, etc etc without at least his ethnicity. Pointless and absurd.....
