SAN ANGELO, TX – New information released by the Texas DPS confirms a 2-year-old girl was killed in Monday's fatal crash in Grape Creek.
In the report released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, on July 17, 2023 at around 2:15 p.m., Texas DPS Troopers were dispatched to US 87 N and Glass Rd., approximately nine miles north of San Angelo, for the report of rollover crash.
Upon arrival the troopers discovered a 2011 Ford Edge, a 2008 Johnny Pag Motorcycle, a 2021 Freightline Truck Tractor towing a trailer that had all turned over on the side of the highway following a crash.
Crews attempted to save all passengers in the three vehicles. Multiple ambulances, as well as Shannon's AirMed1, were called to the scene. The passenger in the Semi, 58-year-old Jose Sanchez, of San Angelo was taken to Shannon with non-incapacitating injuries. The motorcyclist, James Palmour, 23, of San Angelo, was taken to Shannon with non-incapacitating injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
As for the Ford Edge there were multiple injuries. The driver Morgan Palmour, 26, of San Angelo was taken to Shannon with non-incapacitating injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt. The two children in the vehicle with Palmour, two girls ages 4 and 2, were not properly secured in the vehicle. The 4-year-old was taken to Shannon with non-incapacitating injuries while the 2-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene.
The DPS investigation revealed that the Edge and the Motorcycle were both traveling southbound on U.S. 87. Both vehicles were in the right lane with the Edge following the Motorcycle. Both vehicles were traveling at a very slow speed. The Semi, also traveling southbound on U.S. 87 in the right lane failed to control its speed and struck the Edge. As a result, the Edge struck the Motorcycle. All vehicles overturned and came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway.
At the time of the crash the weather was clear and the road was dry. The speed limit at this location is listed at 75 mph. The report did not state if any charges or citations were issued to any driver.

The sign placement in the photo above is tragically ironic. Too bad they didn't actually do so safely. Driving too slow in a 75 mph zone is just as dangerous as too fast. That, accompanied by not securing your kiddos led to this sad ending.
