Small Town Near Brownwood is Building a Community Splash Pad

BANGS – The small town of Bangs just outside of Brownwood announced last month it is building a community splash pad.

The Bangs City Council has approved the seeking of bid proposals for construction on a splash pad for the Bangs community.

At an August meeting, Greg Parrott, a council member, brought up the proposal to spend $75,000 on a splash pad that would be in the park area in downtown Bangs and with a price above $50,000, the project must have construction bids placed.

Splash pads are a hot topic in San Angelo where, during the summer, San Angelo Parks and Recreation Manager Brent Casey said, “I think we defiantly need a splash pad.”

That same day, DAILY LIVE! covered a topic about the San Angelo City Council where local activist Steve Hampton brought up splash pads.

“High temperatures have been in our news, and we don’t have a pool that’s functional,” Hampton said, “It’s broken for one reason or another. We don’t use fire hydrants around here, but we could use splash pads. Which have been talked about for a long time. That would improve the quality of life and would back up the pool and you wouldn’t have to man them with lifeguards”
