SAN ANTONIO – 21 varsity high school football players from a San Antonio school have been disciplined for their role in a disturbing hazing incident.
According to social media posts and sources inside Alamo Heights High School, a hazing incident has led to 21 varsity football players receiving in-school suspension and they will miss two games.
A message sent KENS 5 news reads:
“The senior boys did an initiation, where they went out to the baseball fields and made the younger players put cookies dipped in hot sauce between their butt cheeks. Then, they had to race each other, and if any of the cookies fell out, the person would have to eat it. They made them do this in a open space completely naked. They then also were throwing hot sauce on some of the players, then at a later party, made some of the freshman get down to their boxers and give lap dances to some cheerleaders.”
One of the victims, a junior who made the varsity team, ended up being hospitalized with burns to the lower part of his body.
The hazing did not occur on school property but the source did say this comes from team tradition.
“We have a responsibility to the young men on our football team that goes well beyond what happens on the field,” Alamo Heights ISD Athletic Director and head football coach Ron Rittimann said, “We celebrate their successes when it’s appropriate to do se, but we also must help them learn from their poor choices. We will move forward as a team and continue the important job in developing the character of the young men.”
Players involved in the hazing have been suspended two games, 10 hours of community service, and in-school suspension.
Last year, Alamo Heights went 13-1 and played in the state 5A regional finals game.

But I've long thought the practice of butt clenching a capsicum covered cookie built character and team spirit.

PermalinkUh, no. What it builds is a "burning" desire for revenge... much like smearing Atomic Balm on a teammate's private parts. All in the spirit of team building, of course.
