Sex Offender Jailed Following Probation Violations

A San Angelo man was put behind bars on a motion to revoke warrant Wednesday, after committing several violations of his probation over a two-year period.

Ronald Lee Verdi, 33, pled guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child on July 11, 2011, after entering a plea bargain to dismiss two additional felony charges, including aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child sexual contact. The victim of the offense was listed as a 4-year-old girl.

Verdi was sentenced to six years adult probation for the offense, however a violation report completed by the Concho Valley Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) lists continual violations of the probation terms from November 2012 to June 2014.

Some of the violations listed in the report include the use of K2 synthetic marijuana while on probation, failure to attend counseling sessions and complete homework, admitted unauthorized contact with minors, failure to pay fees, and deliberately recording group therapy sessions intended to use as a threat against the counselor, the document states.

As a result of the repeated violations, Verdi was discharged from the counseling services and the counselor recommended that he be considered for long-term incarceration.

Assistant District Attorney Meagan White filed a motion to revoke deferred adjudication probation and to proceed to adjudicate guilt on July 14. On July 23, Verdi was arrested and booked into Tom Green County Jail.

Aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first-degree felony punishable by 5-99 years in prison and an optional $10k fine. On July 24, an application for the court to appoint an attorney was filed. As of yet, a hearing has not been set.

A plea bargain for a charge of sexual assault of a child? How does a judge agree to that? I guess the judge would sing a different tune if this pedophile would have molested a child more closely linked to the judge. This human needs to be extracted from the free society, there is no hope of rehabilitation for this guy, he's useless. If you leave a used dirty plate out on the counter for a week and it starts to form mold on it, in the mold there are little black specs. Those little black specs are what this guy is like, a useless black spec on mold from a dirty food dish.
His "roommates" won't really care, as people charged with his crimes are housed in protective custody along with rapists, snitches, gang drop-outs etc.. Now if he had gotten caught with an ounce or two of marijuana, THEN he'd be rubbing elbows with robbers and killers..
