Police: 6th Street Shooting Stemmed From Teenage Feud

AUSTIN, TX -- New details have emerged in the Austin mass shooting last weekend.

According to an arrest affidavit released Wednesday the shooting occurred as a result of a feud between two groups of teenagers that went back several days.

One of the shooting victims, a male juvenile, told detectives he was familiar with Jeremiah Tabb because they attended the same middle school in Kileen.

Using a yearbook photo, the juvenile victim identified the 17-year-old shooter as the suspect who shot him in the leg in Killeen days before the 6th Street shooting and the suspect who fired a gun over the weekend in Austin.

The juvenile victim told detectives he was with friends on East 6th Street when they exchanged stares with Tabb and his friends.

According to the victim, Tabb told the group “What y'all wanna do? Y'all wanna fight?” The teen then replied, "It's whatever."

It was at this time Tabb pulled a firearm from his waistband and opened fire.

A second juvenile who was with the victim's group also had a firearm and began shooting.

At the scene, police located eight spent shell casings on the sidewalk where Tabb was with his friends. The shell casings all appeared to be from the same gun.

At this time, Tabb has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond has been set at $500,000.

The second juvenile who also discharged a firearm remains in police custody, but he has not been identified at this time.

Police have not confirmed if they have determined who fired the fatal shot that killed 25-year-old Douglas John Kantor. More than a dozen bystanders were injured in the shooting.

Yes they are young, they love their mamas and their mamas love them but they are killing innocent people. Try them as adults and punish them accordingly. Not for revenge but, as a deterrent to the next group of low life that want to randomly shoot bullets into a crowd.
