Man Arrested for Brutally Beating his Infant Twins

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A 21-year-old San Antonio man was arrested over the weekend after police say he physically assaulted his 4-month-old twins who were seriously injured.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were dispatched to Children’s Hospital of San Antonio for reports of an injury to a child.

At the hospital, officers learned one of the twin boys had suffered a fractured skull and other injuries. After an interview with the parents, officers learned Javier Leyva threw the child in the air and did not catch him. This caused the months-old baby to fall on the ground.

The infant had to be placed in the intensive care unit for treatment.

Officers also learned that the second twin had suffered a broken rib at an earlier date. The child was removed from the home and placed with a relative by CPS.

Leyva was arrested for Injury to a Child, a first-degree felony. His bond was set at $500,000.
