SAN ANTONIO, TX – A San Angelo man was killed Wednesday in a brutal crash on I-10 in San Antonio.
According to the SAPD, on Mar 10 at around 2:00 a.m., officers with the San Antonio Police Department were dispatched to I-10 near Hausman Rd. for the report of a rollover crash.
When officers arrived they discovered a blue sports car had crashed and rolled into a concrete barrier.
Once paramedics arrived on scene they found two men, Javon Cruz, 24, and Khalid Valencia, 25, dead in the vehicle. Valencia is from San Angelo.
Police have determined that the vehicle was traveling down Hausman Rd. which ended in a T intersection.
The vehicle tried to turn onto the I-10 access road, but instead, hit the curb, went airborne and cleared the access road before landing on the other off-ramp to De Zavala. The car then bounced and went airborne again and landed on the main lanes before bouncing again, then turned sideways and hit the concrete wall. The vehicle didn’t stop there. It then bounced off the wall, hit the left shoulder, hit the wall a second time and then came to a stop between the left shoulder and lane one.
The police have confirmed that one contributing factor was traveling at a high rate of speed. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor as well.
The crash scene was cleared after 3 hours. The bodies were taken to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office.
