MIDLAND, TX – The Midland Lee renaming committee has released recommendations for school colors and a mascot for the former Robert E. Lee High School.
According to CBS7, on September 25, the committee released a number of new names and colors but the most popular one was the Rebels.
Here is the full list of recommendations:
Midland Legacy of Equality and Excellence High School
- Rebels *The committee’s depiction of the new Rebel mascot represents the Revolutionary War period. There will be no imagery associated with the Confederacy.
- Hornets
- Maroon and White
- Blue and Gold
Midland Tall City High School
- Oilers
- Rebels *The committee’s depiction of the new Rebel mascot represents the Revolutionary War period. There will be no imagery associated with the Confederacy.
- Titans
- Maroon and White
- Light Blue and Red
- Blue and Gold
Midland Carver Lee High School
- Rebels *The committee’s depiction of the new Rebel mascot represents the Revolutionary War period. There will be no imagery associated with the Confederacy.
- Hornets
- Maroon and White
- Blue and Gold
As previously reported, on September 18, the committee voted to recommend the name "Midland Legacy of Equality and Excellence High School." The MISD school board will have the final say on the name change.

The naacp needs to pay for all and any uniforms and new mascot suit for every school they want changed if they can’t then there racist organization needs to be done away with lulac as well they areNOT American the - as in African- American or Latin - American your either American or go away you csnt whitewash aka rub out history no matter how good or bad it was
