Suspect Accused of Murdering Elderly Mother Dies Awaiting Trial

SAN ANTONIO, TX — After killing his mother and engaging “in sexual acts” with her body, 59-year-old Lindsey Turiano died while awaiting trial.

According to KTXS, Turiano was arrested last August after admitting to beating his 89-year-old mother Norma Woods.

According to arrest documents, on July 14, 2019 SAPD was sent to a home for reports of a burglary. Inside the home, they located Turiano, who was unable to speak, and his mother’s decomposing body in one of the bedrooms.

Investigators believe Turiano dragged his mother’s body throughout the house. After searching the home officers found blood spattered on the walls and pieces of bone and tissue attached to a knife.

According to the affidavit, “...the victim's head was completely obliterated to the point that she was unrecognizable as a person. Most of her skull and brain were missing."

Officers also located “pieces of skull in the living room and large dark/black stains on the carpet consistent with a crime scene and blood.”

Turiano was treated at a local hospital after his arrest and a few days later returned for a second visit where he told a doctor he killed his mother.

He later admitted to police he had attacked, strangled and beat his mother with a stick. He also stated that he had stripped her and attempted to rape her.

According to the report, “once dead the defendant dragged the victim into the back room and again engaged in sexual acts with the deceased victim.”

Turiano then remained laying on the floor until a few days later when police discovered him and the decomposing remains.

Turiano was subsequently charged with murder but in February of 2020, he was found to be incompetent to stand trial. After suffering from health issues he was admitted to University Hospital where he remained until his death.

Turiano ultimately passed away from pneumonia on Saturday evening.
