WATCH: Promoter Arrested as Police Bust Illegal Fight Club in Local Bar

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police Department officers raided a local bar Friday night and arrested the promoter of illegal boxing matches.

SAPD Sgt. Jeremy Cannady said at the scene Friday night at Koronazz, 4611 S. Jackson St. a promoter was advertising a Friday Fight Night, "There was an unsanctioned illegal boxing fight which amounts to disorderly conduct affray in the state of Texas because its an unsanctioned fight."

As we reported earlier, video surfaced on social media of a cage fight in a bar on Vanderventer St. near Angelo State University and a San Angelo man, Anthony Camp, was seen in the video promoting the fight.

Sgt. Cannady says the SAPD has been in contact with the agency which governs boxing and MMA fighting in Texas. "The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) is the sanctioning body in Texas. We've been in contact with them since these (illegal fights) started popping up and the fights have not been sanctioned. Its the same as any other fight in a bar.  They are committing a class C offense in this case the promoter was complicit in the offense.  Anthony Camp was arrested.  One fighter apparently figured out what was going very quickly and vanished.  Another received a citation.  He didn't realize what he was doing was wrong. There were no medics, no license, no safety equipment."

Arrest records show Anthony Camp, 31, was charged with DOC Affray, which is fighting, at 12:57 a.m. Saturday morning and was released at 5:28 a.m.

Next it will be someone getting shot):

Thanks for the free viewing .....wish there was live action like this all the time. It would give the town hype and maybe even slow the aggressive side of the younger generation. No harm was done and everyone got what they wanted. Let the bell ring we could use a release of stress......

This fly-by-night operation is (was) a ticking time bomb. That's why professional fights are governed by a commission sanctioned by the state, and require doctors, contracts, mandatory concussion guidelines, etc.
That and the illegal betting that no doubt was taking place, was surely going to turn into parking lot brawls and shootouts.
Glad they shut them down. Wanna have fight night? Do it legally, kinda like crossing the border.....

Can you seriously take your mind out of the trash can and really make a civil non judgmental lets not forget racial remark....your so childish and petty. This conversation is no fun now. If thats all you got on your feedback is racial than maybe ill just swim back across cause being any where near an idiot like you cajun disgrace , im better off. Id like to see you speak your trash to my mother and see how big your cajun is then.

THE HARM AND FOUL IS THAT IS AGINST THE LAW TO HOLD THESE KIND OF FIGHTS I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME GOOD MMA STYLE FIGHTS IN TOWN RUN LEGAL AND CORRECT

Whats it matter who or whom was fighting they werent hurting you or anyone other than the willing so it was amateur it has to start somewhere. You just stay home and play bridge and scrabble, and everyone will b just fine.

Yes he was in the wrong but my point is that they werent doing nothing to harm anyone that wasnt participating. Honestly theres enough crimes we've heard about that are way worse and this one was just an attempt to entertain a different crowd. If all the negative nancys would please just breath im sure well be just fine.
