Concho Palace Closing Doors Due to "Empty Wallet"

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Concho Palace has decided to close their doors after a short stint in San Angelo.

According to the Concho Palaces Facebook, the dance hall will be closing on October 18.

The post describes why the country western bar is closing. Here it is.

Dear Friends, it’s with a heavy heart and an empty wallet that we announce the closing of The Concho Palace Dance Hall and Saloon. It’s truly been an honor and a pleasure to have been able to be a part of the San Angelo nightlife and entertainment for the last year. For those of you who put forth the time, effort and money to actually come out in support of our venue, on behalf of the artists, staff and management; we say thank you. We did what we could to bring you the best entertainment including legendary artists, up-and-coming artists, regional and local artists such as; Gene Watson, Johnny Bush, Shelly Lares, Moe Bandy, Darrell McCall, Ram Herrera, Bret Mullins, David Adam Byrnes, Tayla Lynn, Tre Twitty, Randall King, Mark Powell, the incomparable Will Bannister, Sam Whiskey, Braydon Zinc, Lynn Massey, Kelly Spinks, Brice Daniels, Case Hardin, Joe Tervino, The Old Hat Band, Weldon Henson, Landon Dodd, Swing Machine, The Electric Cowboys, Billy Mata, Jake Hooker, Jody Nix, Rita Capuchina, The Soggy Pesos, Brushfire, Bobby Flores, Evlouzion, Braydon Zinc, AJ Johnston, Matt Williams, Steve Griggs, Roger Creager, Kevin Fowler, Cory Morrow, Josh Ward, Kyle Park, Sam Riggs, Jon Wolfe, Mike Ryan…and I know I’ve left some out.
Going forward I’d ask that you do your best to support the venues in The Concho Valley that strive to bring good quality entertainment and please realize that if you only attend the big shows it’s not enough to keep these venues profitable. Take a chance occasionally and go hear an artist that you’ve never heard of, you might be surprised at the quality of entertainment that you will discover.
Again, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives and a part of the community. We will miss you San Angelo and honestly I hope that y’all will miss us just a little.
Our last day of operations will be Friday October 18th, all shows and promotions between now and then are still scheduled to take place. I’d love to see all of our Concho Palace Friends and Family before then. vaya con Dios

You still have a few more days to get your two step on but you better hurry because last call is on October 18.

Who was the moron that even dreamed they could make a fortune with this when there's already a butt-load of bars in this stupid town....... About as retarded as someone opening up another fried chicken or mexican food joint here......

How about a bar which serves fried chicken and/or Mexican food to all the patrons who come to rock out to Joe Blow & The San Angelo Randoms?

Come for the subpar food, stay for the mediocre garage bands.

Fried chicken OR Mexican food? Why not both? Whatever happened to that style of food and culture known as Tex-Mex/Tejano that subtly balanced between Latin and Anglo traditions into something pleasantly distinctive? I suppose the answer has political implications... and just between you, me, and the internet-connected universe, years before the Alt-Right guys came into the public discourse with their grievances against globalism and the global conversation really got started for its renegotiation... the terr... uhh... guys grousing around Chicano forums were complaining about nearly all the same bullet points including the enervating effects of modernity and globalism on tradition and culture. These days, the once burgeoning traditions of Tejano distinctiveness have dissolved into the cultural tempo set by the waves of diaspora from the south, and with it, the harmonizing influence it once exerted.

To be forced to CHOOSE between fried chicken and enchiladas? This is an almost foreign concept in some minds. And globalism? I suppose everyone is tired of my political commentary at this point... though it must be said that once we globalize everything, we globalize EVERYTHING. ("Abolish ICE"? Lulz.) Anyway, for a cool sound, try playing these two tracks, simultaneously, on two browser tabs sometime.

PS: "Joe Blow & The San Angelo Randoms" is an excellent band name.
