OPINION — Quite frankly I’m getting tired of being lectured. I can’t turn on a news program on television or the radio, I can’t go to a news site or social media site on a computer, I can’t drive down the road and read the billboards, without being bombarded with lectures about what a horrible person I am, and how I’m destroying the planet, melting the icebergs, wiping out the rainforests, polluting the air and water, and leaving the toilet seat up. I’ve had enough of it.
We’re being lectured on gun control by people who don’t go anywhere without armed guards, but want to take our guns away. We’re being lectured about the necessity of open borders by people who live in gated communities behind high walls. We’re being lectured about our overuse of fossil fuels by people who fly all over the world, including to annual climate summit meetings, in their private jets. We’re being lectured about our ‘carbon footprint’ by people who live in mansions that use 300 times the normal amount of energy. We’re being lectured about income equality by people who own three estates. We’re being lectured about racism by people who think it’s OK to ban people from certain schools or jobs because of the color of their skin.
We’re being told we must accept a man’s claim that he’s a woman, when he can’t accept the fact that he’s a man. We’re being told we shouldn’t judge a whole group of people based on the actions of a few, by people who want to restrict everyone’s rights based on the actions of a few. We’re told the police will protect us from violence, by people who claim the police are far too violent. We’re told we can trust the government and let them take our guns, by those who say the government is run by racist, homophobic, bigoted psychopaths. We’re being called fascists by people who want to restrict our right to free speech.
The same people who say we can’t find and deport 20 million illegal aliens claim we can confiscate 400 million privately-owned guns. Politicians tell us they will be able to keep guns out of the hands of criminals when, after a 40-year war on drugs, they can’t keep drugs off the streets, they can’t keep drugs out of elementary schools, they can’t even keep drugs out of federal prisons. We’re being told politicians don’t want to take our guns, when the politicians are saying, “We are definitely going to take your guns.”
By far the worst offenders in this bombardment of hypocritical propaganda are those who belong to the religious cult of environmentalism. The tree- and bunny-huggers have been a whiny, irritating bunch for years, but those who want to save the planet are the worst of a bad lot. They’re the airport hare-krishnas of the environmental world. And yes, the planet savers have become a religious cult.

A religious cult is a group of people who believe in things they can’t see or prove. They attack and ridicule all evidence contrary to their opinion. The cult offers a means of repentance, warns of horrible consequences for non-believers, and the members constantly try to convert others while the leaders get rich from their unpaid labor. The planet-savers meet every criterion of a cult.
Now, climate change is not in question. Of course the climate is changing. There has never been a time in the history of history when the climate wasn’t changing, and it will never stop. The cultists, however, believe the climate is changing, for the worse, because of humans, and therefore humans are obligated to ‘do something’ about it. There is no proof of these claims, since correlation does not equal causation, but the cultists believe it anyway.

The means of repentance, for years, has been ‘carbon credits.’ The cult leaders made up this term when someone noticed they were flying around in private jets while telling their cult members to carpool and use public transportation. “It’s OK, I planted a few trees,” is the kind of thing the cult leaders said. And the cultists accepted that. They’re true believers, those cultists.
There is now also the option of obtaining absolution by confessing your environmental sins to plants. NBC.com started an anonymous online climate sin confession platform recently, where anyone can log on and confess the ways and means by which they have harmed the planet. That oughta get us on the right track.

Union Theological Seminary, in New York City, took things a step further. The school brought in potted plants, and held sessions wherein some of the dingbats, and maybe a few nut cases, would sit down on the floor and confess their environmental transgressions directly to the bushes. Seriously. The other dingbats sat nearby, with straight faces, and witnessed these confessions. That’s all I got to say about that.

The cult, finally, now even has a savior in Greta Thunberg, the sixteen-year-old, autistic Swedish kid who rode a boat across the Atlantic, after which some of her crew flew jets back home, those fossil fuel guzzling, climate ruining, environmentally disastrous modes of transportation. She’s being used, of course, by the alarmists to advance their agenda, and anyone who criticizes her message is immediately vilified for attacking a child. It’s a beautiful scheme that appeals to emotions and ignores facts. Should work very well.
If you’re in the cult, the rest of us don’t really care. We’re fine with you saving the planet. All we ask is that you use your own money, and don’t impose any of your rules on everyone else.
To paraphrase Groucho Marx, I wouldn’t belong to any cult that would have me as a member . . .

Spot on, Kendal. The Climate Change cult rates right up there with the Russian Conspiracy cult, or the Impeachment cult, or the Socialist cult, or the Open Borders cult. All of which are promulgated by Democrats. Really though, the Climate Change cult is running the perfect Democrat shill game. If it's too hot, it's climate change. Too dry, climate change. Too wet? You guessed it, climate change. The sad/comical thing is the stupidity of Democrats willing to step knee deep into this load of horse manure......

PermalinkMother Nature or Nature for lack of attaching gender in this thin skinned society, is a force no human can control. Are there contributions from humans from the beginning of time that have made, "impacts," on nature, sure. But sitting down and confessing sins to plants, saying humans need to change to correct negative impacts on nature is futile. Sure we can reduce fossil fuels and what not. The dust bowl and the tragedy that yielded from it, due to over plowing and not being knowledgeable about soil maintenance, did increase the tragedy that followed, that's just common sense, but as a whole, man kind changing his or her ways will not reduce climate change. Because climate is a natural non-human controlled science, and man cannot change or control nature.

PermalinkBoomers: "Go to college, get a good education and you can change the world!"
9 years and a PhD later: "Hey, maybe we should stop throwing our trash in the ocean and think about alternative energy."
Boomers: "Boy, college sure did turn you into a libtard."

PermalinkI've got a great idea. How about we all put a little trust in the worlds smartest scholars and scientists instead of blindly following a few politicians?
Worst case scenario by not acting? We all die. Everyone. Everything.
Worst case scenario by helping? We don't die. Billionaires lose a little market share and you help out future generations by caring for something other than yourself.
Now I'm no tree-hugger but I think that not dying is pretty damn important.
Although, why should I be surprised that the generation that destroyed the housing market, increased the cost of college exponentially, bled social security dry, and ruined the environment in the first place, doesn't want anything to inconvenience them.
