SAISD Board of Trustees Calls November Bond Election

SAN ANGELO, TX -- (Press Release) The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees voted to call a bond election for November 6, 2018. The bond proposal is split into two propositions with Proposition A totaling $111,480,000 and Proposition B totaling $34,040,000 for an overall bond of $145,520,000.

The proposal comes after multiple feedback initiatives throughout the community since the failed May 2018 bond, along with additional analysis and deliberation by the District’s Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee (LRFPC).

Proposition A, totaling $111,480,000, addresses safety and security measures, handicap accessibility upgrades, aging conditions and classroom spaces through additions and

renovations of existing facilities.

Proposition B, totaling $34,040,000, addresses aging conditions, handicap accessibility upgrades, additional capacity and improved programs for extracurricular activities, fine arts and athletics through new construction

San Angelo ISD is committed to full transparency and sharing information.  We will be re-launching our full bond website in the coming weeks for you to use as a continued resource.

I agree with AB, So SAID got a bad grade and they still want the keys to the truck, studying is no fun..... If they say it's about the kid someone should _______ them. Only government thinks it's a good think to borrow more money when you already owe the banks MILLIONS.

If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. I have a feeling when we vote no again in November, it will just come back up for a vote until these money hungry people get their money. Maybe they should worry about ensuring our students learn something instead of how good the buildings look. Some of the things they want money for make no sense. Let's pay off (or at least make a dent) the current bonds before hounding us for more money while my car becomes misaligned and my drinking water reeks of chlorine.....

No SAISD bond, PERIOD! Use what you have. At the next school board election, it’s time for all of these money-grubbing fools to go!

BTW, being poor does not effect intelligence or how a student learns. The reason test scores are low is directly proportionate to the desire to learn & the skill of the educators. Grape Creek is not known to be a hotbed of intellectuals. You can draw your own conclusions from there.

Parents being involved and encouraging their kids to excel in academics is key to educational success. No bond, facility, or teacher can create valedictorians if the kids' home environment doesn't encourage them to learn.
Hotbed of intellectuals? Not sure there is one. Ridiculous statement.

My point being, I know of no municipality or neighborhood that claims to be predominately occupied by MENSA members. I've looked at all this weeks' open houses, yet no claim of any being located in a "hotbed of intellectuals".
Now MIT, Harvard, and wait for it....Texas A&M...those are hotbeds.....

It's amazing how many people are against creating a better learning experience for children. The reason this country is so f**ked up is because of lack of education--and San Angeloeans are *actively* voting against that. What a world.

We haven't had a major upgrade to our school system in TEN YEARS. That is far too long--a new generation of children are at these schools now.

Prop A is the most important one--Prop B is just another stadium with upgrades. If you care about kids, at least vote PROP A.
