SAPD Press Release:

This afternoon, police were dispatched to Scherz Landscaping, 2225 Knickerbocker, for the report of an unidentified male who abandoned a passenger car at the location before stealing a pickup truck and trailer from Scherz.

While officers were investigating the incident, dispatch received a call regarding another unauthorized use of a motor vehicle from the 4100 block of S. Chadbourne.

Upon arrival to the Chadbourne location, officers learned that a man attempted to steal a vehicle from a business but some employees prevented the theft.  The employees told police the man ran away from the area.

Several police units responded to the area to assist with the search, and soon officers located the stolen Scherz truck and trailer, abandoned.  Shortly thereafter, police located the suspect near a residence in the 200 block of Dellwood.  The suspect, a 28-year-old Hispanic male, is believed to be involved in both incidents.

His identity is not confirmed at this time.
