AEP Crews Restore Power After Short Afternoon Outage

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Another power outage has been reported late Wednesday morning for the residents living in North San Angelo.

AEP said the outage is affecting 7,700 customers and crews are currently looking at potential problems that may have caused the power outage.

UPDATE: Wednesday, Aug. 2 @ 3:40 p.m.

AEP said the outage occurred at 12:30 p.m. and most customers had their power restored by 1 p.m.

The cause of the shortage was a shield wire on one of the transmission lines, according to AEP.  AEP crews worked on repairing the wire shortly after the outage and as a result, power was momentarily shut-off along 28th St.

Power was restored to those customers living on 28th St. after repairs were finished.

Maybe like all the streets in San Angelo are worn out and in desperate need of being replaced, maybe all the high line wires in town are also so old and worn out that they need replacing too to carry all of the extra electricity that we use today that wasn't used back when they were first put up..........

We have lost power three out of the last seven days, not during bad weather, twenty to thirty minutes at a time. It feels like life in a third world country.
I think it has something to do with calm days all week, very little wind power produced, too many gas and coal power plants mothballed, but no one will probably admit it.
Windmills are 50% taxpayer subsidized ,inefficient, undependable foreign made monstrosities . Gas , nuclear energy and coal are much more dependable.
If the lines are in this bad of shape it will only get worse.
It looks like a large generator will be in our future at our house.

isn't it possible that recent (and rare) windstorms had a destructive effect on poles and lines? After all, the city collected a record amount of storm trash and the feds are in town handing out money for repairs.
