The Ultimate Guide to 4th of July Events in San Angelo for 2017

SAN ANGELO, TX — July 3 the San Angelo Symphony will host their traditional 4th of July pops concert. The concert is on Monday, July 3, however. Gates to the concert at the RiverStage, 16 E. Ave. A, on July 3 will open at noon. Admission to the pops concert is free. The Community Band performs at 7 p.m. and the San Angelo Symphony at 8:30 p.m. Glass containers are not allowed in the RiverStage. Bring the family, your own lawn chairs and blankets. The concert concludes with the second-largest fireworks display for the 4th of July holiday in San Angelo.

If sitting on the grass at the RiverStage doesn’t excite you, you can watch the show from the Love Municipal Pool, 18 E. Ave. A, and July 3. Some say the popular swimming pool offers the best – and coolest – view of the July 3 fireworks with its annual Splash Party. Tickets are sold the day of the event at the pool for $15. Tickets are limited. Those who purchase Splash Party tickets will be allowed to enter at 6:30 p.m. Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the pool. Concessions are available for sale.

On Tuesday, July 4, Fort Concho will celebrate an old Independence Day Army tradition, firing hourly artillery salutes from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Parade Ground to mark the nation’s 241st birthday. There will be no charge to watch the artillery or to enter the fort’s Visitor Center at Barracks 1. Regular site charges will be in effect for the rest of the fort’s 10 tour buildings, which will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the holiday.

Admission rates are $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and military, $1.50 for children ages 7-17, and free for kids 6 and younger. Because Fort Concho participates in the Blue Star Program, all active-duty military are admitted at no charge from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as are military veterans and their families.

Also on the 4th, the annual Santa Rita 4th of July Parade commences at 10 a.m. from the corner of Algerita and Madison. Line-up for the parade is at 9:30 a.m.

In Wall, their annual 4th of July parade begins at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at the Wall Co-op and proceed west down Loop 570 ending at the entrance to Wall High School, just before the Wall Post Office. Convenient parking is available at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, Ole Gin Steakhouse, Wall Brethren Church and Wall ISD.

At Lake Nasworthy, July 4 will bring the grand finale, but you may want to grab a spot early on the lake.

Admission will be charged July 4 at Spring Creek and Middle Concho parks at Lake Nasworthy. Day passes cost $3 per vehicle for City residents and $6 for non-residents. Camping passes cost $6 per campsite for City residents, $12 for non-residents. Glass containers, which pose a public safety hazard, are prohibited at the lake parks, as well as all city parks.

When darkness falls at Lake Nasworthy, the Lake Nasworthy Homeowners’ Association will perform the biggest fireworks display of the weekend. At 9:30 p.m., the Homeowners promise a $25,000 fireworks show from the south portion of the lake on the dam side of the Veterans Memorial Bridge. The best viewing may not be in Spring Creek Park, but plenty of spots all around the lake will suffice. The show is huge. Expect heavy traffic getting out of there Tuesday night, but San Angelo police are generally very efficient in directing the traffic and getting spectators home quickly.

Shooting your own fireworks are prohibited within the city limits, but allowed in the county
