SAN ANGELO, TX— A suspected drug dealer has been indicted for possessing over 70 grams of methamphetamine.
Cody Joe Depauw, 45, of San Angelo, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance between 4 grams and 200 grams.
According to court documents, on Aug. 12, 2024, around 1:25 p.m., a DPS Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevy pickup for failure to signal a lane change. The driver was identified as Depauw, and the DPS Trooper observed numerous signs of criminal indicators. He requested consent to search Depauw’s vehicle, which was denied.
A DPS Trooper K9 arrived on scene and alerted to Depauw’s vehicle. Then, a probable cause search was conducted, and two baggies of suspected methamphetamine were found. The weight of the suspected meth came to 71.33 grams, which the DPS Trooper suggested was much greater than the amount an average drug user would have.
The DPS Trooper also stated the common price of one gram of meth was $100, so Depauw was allegedly in possession of $7,133 of meth.
Depauw was arrested and released on Aug. 20, 2024, on $105,000 bond. He has a jury trial set for Aug. 18, 2025.
