Blowing Dust Advisory Issued for Concho Valley and Surrounding Areas

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Blowing Dust Advisory for the Concho Valley, Big Country, and Heartland regions, warning of reduced visibility and strong wind gusts through 8 p.m. Friday.

Visibility on roadways is expected to drop as low as a quarter-mile to one mile, with wind gusts ranging between 50 and 75 mph, according to the advisory. The strongest gust reported so far has reached 76 mph in Haskell.

Residents are advised to exercise caution while driving, as blowing dust can quickly reduce visibility. Those with respiratory issues are encouraged to stay indoors. Officials recommend that drivers encountering dust storms pull off the road if conditions become hazardous.
