San Angelo Sees 59 New Drilling Permits in January Amid Statewide Oil Activity

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Oil and gas development in the San Angelo area remained active in January, with 59 new drilling permits issued, according to the Texas Railroad Commission’s latest report.

The region’s permitting activity contributes to the state’s broader total of 666 original drilling permits issued last month.

Statewide, the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) reported that of the 666 permits issued in January, 607 were for new oil or gas wells, while the rest covered re-entering plugged wellbores and recompletions. The well types permitted included 134 for oil, 26 for gas, and 463 for combined oil and gas.

The commission also processed 1,340 oil well completions, 377 gas well completions, and 290 injection well completions statewide last month.
