SAN ANGELO, TX – Budweiser’s Super Bowl commercial featuring a young Clydesdale horse was ranked the best ad of the night, and a familiar face from San Angelo played a role in its success.
Marc Menchaca, a San Angelo native, appeared in the beer brand’s “First Delivery” commercial, which topped USA TODAY’s Ad Meter rankings. This marks the second consecutive year Menchaca has been featured in a Super Bowl ad.
The 98-second commercial follows a young Clydesdale foal overcoming obstacles to deliver a fallen keg. Budweiser earned an average rating of 3.56 from 160,000 viewers who participated in the Ad Meter rankings. The ad outperformed spots from Lay’s, Michelob Ultra, Stella Artois, and the NFL.
This year marks the 47th time Budweiser’s iconic Clydesdales have been featured in a Super Bowl ad.
Marc Menchaca, 49, is an American actor, writer, and director known for his roles in Ozark, The Sinner, Manifest, and The Outsider. He co-directed, co-wrote, and starred in the 2013 film This Is Where We Live. Menchaca has received multiple accolades, including Best Actor awards at the Breckenridge, Mammoth, and Oxford Film Festivals.
A Texas native, Menchaca discovered his passion for acting at San Angelo Central High School before earning an English degree from Texas A&M University in College Station. He honed his craft at New York’s Circle in the Square Theatre and the William Esper Studio. His film credits include Reparation, Alone, and No One Gets Out Alive.
In October 2022, Menchaca married British actress Lena Headey in Italy. He is of Mexican descent on his father’s side.
