Concho Valley Transit Plans $7M Maintenance Facility in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — Concho Valley Transit is moving forward with plans for a new $7 million maintenance facility on Christoval Road, a project officials say is intended to support long-term fleet operations rather than administrative expansion.

Jeff York, general manager of Concho Valley Transit, said the planned facility at 5507 Christoval Road will be used exclusively for vehicle maintenance and will allow the agency to service its entire fleet in one location.

The facility is designed to handle maintenance needs for all six of the transit system’s vehicles and is expected to operate seven days a week, according to York.

Engineering and design work has been completed, and the project is now in the permitting phase. A contractor has been selected, and construction is expected to span about 18 months.

Concho Valley Transit has owned the Christoval Road property for about five years, York said, adding that the existing structure on the site does not meet the system’s current maintenance needs.

York stated that the new building will not house administrative offices.
