Fire in Downtown Building Shuts Down Traffic on Twohig

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A fire in an abandoned building downtown Tuesday morning caused Twohig Avenue to be shut down to traffic between Chadbourne and Irving streets.

According to police communications, the fire may have been started by homeless people in the area.

Numerous fire trucks responded to the blaze at about 10:30 a.m., and smoke could be seen rolling out of the building, which sits at the end of Paintbrush Alley.

It was extinguished shortly after without the fire jumping to any other buildings.

Fire investigators were also on the scene attempting to determine the cause.
